We ate our lukewarm dinner under an umbrella.

During dinner, Hailey stood atop the bench on the picnic table, and took a bit of a tumble, she now has an array of scratches on her face that resemble the aftermath of a raccoon attack.

When it came time to put Hailey to bed so we could enjoy a night under the stars, she threw one of the most fantastic tantrums we have ever experienced...so we let her stay up for a while. When we all went to bed, she gave us an encore performance of her rage every hour, on the hour until finally the sun came up and we could leave our little tent of torture.

Okay, so maybe I'm being a little melodramatic, but it was a bit of a long night. We actually did have a lot of fun, though. We were really glad we convinced Kyle, Lindy, Amelia and Rachel to come with us. Kyle was much better at keeping the fire alive than I was, and Hailey had a blast exploring the woods with one of her best buddies.

I've been wanting to take Claire camping for the last few weeks, but after this post, I'm not sure it's such a good idea. We're excited to see you guys. Let us know if you need anything.
Oh man this post was hilarious! I will have to think twice about taking Lexi camping this summer....
I love camping and we took our baby for the first time too. It was so fun however I think we had a slightly different weather experience. No rain and rather warm and almost too warm for a fire. Don't give up on camping though they get used to it and git gets easier every time you go.
I love your blog..it makes me laugh...sorry about the tantrum but @ least it is a good story ! Did you get my email the other day ? I am coming out near your house in June but I don't know if you will be out by my house for the summer (if that @ all makes sense)...
Yeah, now you know why I didn't like taking kids camping. 5 of you all at once conspiring to make me crazy. It finally comes full circle. love you all.
